Talk Title
The interaction between timeliness and information in determining the energetic cost of the action potential of unmyelinated nerves.
Talk Abstract
The energetic costs of information transmission between neurons in forebrain cortical systems is greater than computational costs. The cost of signaling arises from two other constraints: information rates and the timeliness of the arrival of this information. This talk describes the interaction, or lack of interaction, between these two constraints on the energetic costs. Once the appropriate assumptions are made and justified, the viewpoint is largely biophysical.
