Talk Title

Auditory attention and auditory categorization in primate ventrolateral prefrontal cortex

Talk Abstract

The ventrolateral prefrontal cortex (vPFC) is hypothesized to be at the apex of a non-spatial ('what') processing. In this talk, we discuss how vPFC neurons respond during tasks that involve spatial versus non-spatial auditory attention, and we present recordings from vPFC neurons obtained while rhesus monkeys categorize phonemes as being the same or different.
