Talk Title

Cortical Activity Patterns Predict Speech Discrimination Ability

Talk Abstract

Extensive psychophysical and neurophysiological studies of visual motion and vibrotactile processing have revealed that the firing rate of cortical neurons averaged across 50-500 ms is well correlated with discrimination ability. We will report evidence that auditory cortex neurons use greater temporal precision to represent speech sounds.
